1. Nature and Goals of Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy, provided by Emma R. Whitfield, MSOT, OTR/L (License OT-000000), seeks to promote health and wellbeing through meaningful activity. The main goal is to enable older adults to take part in their daily activities, supporting their independence and autonomy.
My approach is integrative and person-centered, combining validated techniques with deep human warmth to create a safe therapeutic space.
2. Description of the Process
- Comprehensive assessment: The first session is a thorough assessment to learn about the person's history, routines, abilities and challenges in their own home.
- Intervention plan: Based on the assessment, a plan with functional, personalized goals is created and agreed upon with the patient and their family.
- Intervention sessions: Follow-up sessions (45 min) are held to work toward the goals, either at home or virtually.
3. Potential Benefits and Risks
- Benefits: Improved quality of life, greater safety at home, stronger cognitive function, post-hospital functional rehabilitation and practical tools for caregivers.
- Risks: Occupational therapy is a safe practice. Risks are minimal and may include fatigue or frustration when facing certain difficulties. All measures will be taken to minimize any discomfort.
4. Confidentiality
All information shared is confidential and protected by professional secrecy and the patient-rights laws that apply in United States. It will not be disclosed without your explicit consent, except in the cases the law allows (for example, risk to life).
5. Voluntary Participation and Right to Withdraw
Participation is 100% voluntary. You or your family member have the right to refuse any procedure and to end treatment at any time, without negative consequences.
6. Fees
Service prices and the payment and cancellation policies are governed by the Terms & Conditions.
